HIP PROSTHESIS
Exercises to be done at home
for the first 8 weeks after the operation
(at least 3 sessions every day) )

1) Ankle exercises:

  • Flexions
  • Extensions
  • Circular movements

2) Isometric exercises of the knee

  • Contraction of thigh muscles while pushing against the bed with the knee
  • Hold the contraction for 5 seconds and release (repeat 5 times)

3) Isometric exercises of the gluteus muscle:

  • Contract and squeeze
  • Hold the contraction for 5 seconds and release (repeat 5 times)

4) Flexions of the hip:

  • Let the foot of the operated leg towards the hip (repeat 5 times)

5) Extensions of the knee:

  • Place a rolled-up towel under the knee
  • Contract the muscles and lift the foot from the bed surface (repeat 5 times)
